Sidney Crosby and Paul Stastny Placed on Injured Reserve

January 21st, 2008 | Posted by Wicked in NHL

Sidney Crosby has a upper right ankle sprain and is expected to miss at least 4 weeks for the Penguins.  They tried to get Crosby in to get an MRI today, but the swelling is still so bad they have had to postpone the MRI.  Sidney Crosby has now been put on Injured Reserve.

Paul Stastny has been put on injured reserve by the Colorado Avalanche.  Stastny will go in for surgery on his wrist and is expected to miss 2 weeks at the minimum.

Stastny’s injury and Crosby’s injury will take them both out of the NHL All Star Game next week, but more importantly, it hurts their team’s efforts to make the playoffs.  Both players are the cornerstones of their teams and their absence will be noticeable.
