NHL General Managers Meeting Starts in Florida Today
February 17th, 2008 | Posted by Wicked in NHLThe General Managers Meeting for the NHL begins today in Florida and will last for 3 days. On the official agenda, league rules, salary cap issues and equipment issues. The real reason the NHL General Managers are in Florida, trade talk before the 2008 NHL Trade Deadline.
The big players available before this year’s hockey trade deadline … Mats Sundin, Marian Hossa, Rob Blake and Olli Jokinen. And lets not forget about Peter Forsberg. The first 3 players are up for grabs, but all 3 need to waive their no trade clauses. Peter Forsberg just needs to pick which team he wants to try and help to the hockey promised land.
The teams that still have a shot at Peter Forsberg are the Flyers, Avs, Ducks, Wild, Blackhawks and Senators. Word is that Forsberg will announce where he is going early this week.
Sundin loves Toronto, but he needs to give up hope and give his team a boost heading in to next year by allowing himself to be traded.
Rob Blake is in the exact same position in Los Angeles. He will net a huge return that could help the Kings for years to come.
Marian Hossa doesn’t believe that he will be resigned by Atlanta and is a very valuable player that would provide the Thrashers with a great return.
Expect some fireworks coming out after the General Manager’s meeting is over in Florida.
