Mats Sundin is about to be traded, but to who?
Multiple sources are now claiming that the Montreal Canadians and the Ottawa Senators are both strong contenders in the bidding war for Mats Sundin. Mats Sundin trade rumors started a couple of months ago as the team was playing poorly but the Sundin trade rumors will be ending within the next week. The question remains, can Cliff Fletcher convince Mats Sundin that it is more beneficial for him to go play for another team with a shot at the Stanley Cup, or will Sundin remain loyal and stay a Leaf.
Either way, the Sundin rumor mill will be closing down shop in the next week as we near the NHL 2008 trade deadline. If Sundin is shipped off, whether it be to the Canadians, Senators or Red Wings, look for a huge return for the Maple Leafs, and look for established players with contracts in place rather than draft picks. Fletcher doesn’t want to wait for players to develop, he is building for a playoff run for next year.

you’re a moron. fletcher is not in it for the short term playoff spot. he’s looking to rebuild the franchise. if you knew anything about cliff fletcher’s vision for the maple leafs, you’d know that much.

I never said short-term playoff spot. I do know that Fletcher wants to build for the future, and he would rather do it with established players than draft picks
