Fletcher Asks Sundin to Waive No Trade Clause ….

February 23rd, 2008 | Posted by Wicked in Toronto Maple Leafs

Mats Sundin confirmed in an interview that Cliff Fletcher approached Sundin and straight asked him to waive his no-trade clause.  Sundin had this answer to the question:

“The Leafs gave me a chance to think about it and all that but as I said my position hasn’t changed since the start of the year.

I have to do what feels right in my heart. I just don’t think I can go to another team if I don’t want to play for another team. That wouldn’t be right to myself. That’s how I feel right now.”

So for you Leafs fans that were hoping Sundin would be traded, I think you are going to be waiting quite a while, because I don’t think Sundin will waive his no-trade clause.  He is going to stay in Toronto for the rest of his career.
