2008 NHL Playoffs Start Tonight w/ 4 Games, will you be Watching?

The 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs get underway tonight with 4 games being played.  In the 1st 2 games of the night starting at 7 pm eastern, the Ottawa Senators take on the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers take on cross-river rivals, the New Jersey Devils.  In the 2 later games, the Colorado Avalanche visit the Minnesota Wild and the late game features the Calgary Flames at the San Jose Sharks.

A couple of game day notes for the teams that are playing tonight:

Ottawa Senators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Crosby sat out the last game of the season, but that was simply to give him a little rest.  Crosby will be playing tonight and without any pain.  The Ottawa Senators will be without captain Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Chris Kelly tonight and possibly all series.

New York Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils

Both teams are healthy and ready to go.  The Devils inability to score this season will mean that Brodeur will have even more pressure on his shoulders in the playoffs if the Devils are to beat a good Ranger’s team.

San Jose Sharks vs. Calgary Flames

Craig Rivet is out for the Sharks, and while they will miss his experience, the Sharks are very deep on the blueline and will not miss him too much.  The Flames are healthy, but if they don’t get someone on the scoresheet other than Iginla this series will be over quick.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild

The Avalanche are finally nearly completely healthy.  Leopold and Svatos are out, but Forsberg, Sakic, Smyth, Stastny and Foote are all healthy.  The Wild will be without Foster for tonight’s game since he has appendix removed.
