Game 7 Bruins vs. Canadiens … Go Bruins

Posted on April 21st, 2008 in Boston Bruins by Wicked

Game 7 for the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens in the 2008 NHL playoffs is underway.  The Bruins came in as the 8th seed, seen as a relatively weak team with no chance of beating a much faster and more skilled Canadien’s team.  The Canadiens went up 3-1 in the series, but have since lost the last 2 games to the Bruins, evening the series at 3-3 forcing a seventh game.

Now the two teams hit the ice tonight, the Bruins with upset on their mind, the Canadiens hoping for redemption.  Ever since Phil Kessel was inserted back into the Boston lineup, the Bruins have played much better.  In Game 6 in the playoff series, Kessel scored 2 highlight reel goals en route to a 5-4 Bruins’ victory.  Tonight the team’s battle it out in Montreal.  The winner moves on to the 2nd round of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The loser gets to wipe down their golf clubs and wonder “what if”.  I am definitely a fan of rooting for the underdog so I will be rooting for Boston tonight.

Patrice Bergeron’s Concussion Ends his Season

Posted on January 19th, 2008 in Boston Bruins by Wicked

The Boston Bruins have resigned themselves to the realization that Patrice Bergeron is done for the season as he is still suffering from post-concussion syndrome.  Randy Jones of the Flyers creamed Bergeron earlier in the season and Bergeron has been out since, playing only a total off 10 games all year.

Concussions are a very dangerous injury and can take a long time to recover.  Often times players try to start working out only to become dizzy or disoriented from the head injury, preventing their return.   Hopefully with 9 months until the start of next year will give Bergeron enough time to heal and be ready for next year.  He is a very talented player and a good guy, and it is too bad that he has to deal with this injury.  One of my favorite players, Adam Deadmarsh, was forced to retire at too young of an age after a serious concussion.  I wish Bergeron the best of luck in his road to recovery.
