Posted on August 1st, 2008 in Canada Juniors by Wicked

The video of Patrick Roy’s son, Jonathan Roy fighting another goalie and a player last season made hockey highlight reels across the North America.  Roy came out and fought Bobby Nadeau of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and beat the other goaltender even after it was clear that Nadeau had given up.  Now Jonathan Roy will face one assault charge stemming from the fight.  The assault charge was filed on July 31, 2008 in Saguenay, Quebec.  Roy will not serve any jail time from the assault charge, but more than likely will be put on probation and will have to serve community service.  More details will be added as they are known, but here is the video of the fight.

Patrick Roy and his son Jonathan Roy were both suspended by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for their roles in a line brawl against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.  Patrick Roy directed his son, Jonathan Roy to go fight the Chicoutimi goaltender Bobby Nadeau.  Nadeau didn’t fight back against Roy and took a pretty good beating.  As Jonathan Roy was skating away he flipped off the crowd.  Then he got into another fight with a Defenseman on the Sagueneens.  Patrick Roy is the coach of the Quebec Remparts and his son Jonathan Roy is the goaltender for the Remparts.  Click the link to watch the video of Patrick Roy sending his son Jonathan Roy to fight the Chicoutimi goaltender.

Steve Stamkos 2nd in Goal Scoring in OHL

Posted on February 28th, 2008 in Canada Juniors by Wicked

Steve Stamkos continues to play like an animal in his final season of junior hockey in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League).  Steve Stamkos is in 2nd place for goal scoring in the OHL, despite playing on one of the weaker overall teams.  Steve Stamkos who is predicted to be drafted #1 overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft has 46 goals in 53 games this year.

Steve Stamkos plays on the Sarnia Sting who are currently sitting in the last and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.  Steve Stamkos’ first year with the Sting was last year, when he took them from the worst team in the OHL to a playoff team last year, despite a weak supporting cast.  This year isn’t too different with Stamkos carrying most of the load for the Sarnia Sting with his 46 goals and 87 points this season.

Steve Stamkos will more than likely be drafted #1 overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and will likely be competing for a roster spot his first year as a pro.  Keep your eyes on Steve Stamkos because he has the potential to be a great player for many years to come.

For a general manager it doesn’t get any better than this because you can see one game and see a lot of players.”

It was the 30 NHL teams who chose the players who played in the CHL-NHL Prospects Game.
